Job description

WHO WE ARE

Elliott Davis pairs forward-thinking tax, assurance and consulting services with industry-leading workplace culture. Our nine offices – located in the fastest growing cities in the US – are built on a foundation of inclusivity, collaboration, and collective growth. We work daily to provide exceptional service to our people, customers, and our communities. Audit and assurance services are provided by Elliott Davis, LLC (doing business in NC and D.C. as Elliott Davis, PLLC), a licensed CPA firm. The Workflow and Resource Allocation Manager manages and optimizes the end-to-end production workflow across assigned Tax industry teams, serving as the central lead for staff deployment, capacity utilization, and assignment sequencing. The role maintains full strategic visibility into practice-wide production capacity, including manager workloads, reduced scheduling models, and multi-industry team allocations. Utilizing independent judgment, data analytics, and advanced AI-enabled scheduling platforms, the Workflow and Resource Allocation Manager identifies operational bottlenecks, redistributes work assignments, and alters project sequencing based on staff availability, technical skill mapping, and firm commercial priorities. Operating with high autonomy under the broad directional goals of industry leadership, the Manager possesses the delegated authorization to enforce workflow commitments, reallocate resources to resolve competing priorities, and strategically balance workloads to achieve the firm’s turnaround-time, billable-hour, and revenue targets. As a operational leader, the Manager builds trusted advisory relationships with industry group leaders, engagement teams, and professionals to maximize workforce efficiency, mitigate production risks, and ensure seamless delivery execution.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute the day-to-day production workflow for assigned industry teams, utilizing autonomous authority to deploy staff, initiate project starts, and authorize the redistribution of assignments based on capacity and deadlines.
  • Strategically analyze team capacity, mapping out upcoming review demands, reduced work schedules, and competing priorities to proactively restructure production schedules before delivery timelines are impacted.
  • Resolve resource conflicts and eliminate production bottlenecks, utilizing independent judgment to reassign or re-sequence workloads across competing practice areas.
  • Enforce delivery accountability and turnaround times across the preparation, review, and completion stages by actively managing the handoff lifecycle and overriding delayed schedules.
  • Serve as the operational lead for team members supporting multiple sectors, preventing over-allocation, duplicate scheduling, or conflicting cross-industry commitments.
  • Lead workflow briefings and routine touchpoints with production teams to actively audit work-in-progress, anticipate disruptions, and implement real-time schedule adjustments.
  • Intervene in aging, stalled, or at-risk work by independently developing and implementing recovery plans, escalating only critical structural issues to leadership.
  • Design the integration workflow for onboarding new customers, establishing their structural positioning and resource mapping within the master production schedule.
  • Support long-term scheduling and capacity planning by maintaining an accurate, predictive view of available resources, future commitments, seasonal workloads, and production demand.
  • Develop expert proficiency in CCH Workflow Scheduler and other practice scheduling tools, ensuring absolute data integrity while preparing high-level workflow updates and production summaries for industry leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the practice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, human resources, finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • At least two years of experience in a Tax Support Administrator role preferred; other public accounting, scheduling, workflow, or production coordination experience will be considered.
  • Strong attention to quality, accuracy, detail, and dependable follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain focus, and adjust plans as deadlines, staffing, and customer needs change.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across industries, engagement teams, and centralized support functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and tax software used by the Practice, including CCH Axcess Tax, Scheduling and Workflow, CaseWare, and related systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of personnel and with customers.
  • Team-oriented approach.

  • generous time away and paid firm holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s
  • flexible work schedules
  • 16 weeks of paid maternity and adoption leave, 8 weeks of paid parental leave, 4 weeks of paid and caregiver leave (once eligible)
  • first-class health and wellness benefits, including wellness coaching and mental health counseling
  • one-on-one professional coaching
  • Leadership and career development programs
