Job summary

Great American Insurance Group, a leader in specialty and property & casualty programs, is hiring for a Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist. This fully remote role supports Alternative Markets, with a focus on nationwide claims handling.

Applicants should have extensive WC claims experience and multi-state licensing readiness. Education requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 5–10 years of WC claims experience and licenses in TX, CT, or FL preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Liberal Arts, Business or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of workers' compensation claims handling experience.
• Multi-state licensing required; licenses in TX, CT, FL desired.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and maintains workers' compensation claims; reviews coverage and liability.
• Gathers and analyzes reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements and records in investigations.
• Works toward resolution; participates in arbitrations, mediations, depositions or trials as needed.
• Provides technical guidance to lower-level staff and may coach others.
• Ensures timely and accurate claims payments and compliance with laws and company procedures.

This is a fully remote opportunity.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Investigates and maintains claims:
• Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability.
• Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records, or other documents) in the investigation of claims.
• Works toward the resolution of claims files, and attends arbitrations, mediations, depositions or trials as necessary.
• May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
• Conveys complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
• Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
• Provides technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas.
• May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.
• Experience: Generally, 5 to 10 years of Workers' Compensation Claims handling experience.
• Multi-state adjusters licensing is required. Licenses in the following states is desired: TX, CT, FL.
• Multi jurisdiction experience preferred, but not required.

Business Unit: Alternative Markets

Salary Range: $90,000.00 -$110,000.00
