Job summary

Ascendion is working with a National Insurance Defense Firm in Illinois to hire a Workers' Compensation Attorney in Chicago. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of workers' compensation and defense experience, a J.D.

from an accredited law school, and Illinois bar admission. Responsibilities include managing a caseload from initial claim evaluation to final resolution, performing legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, taking depositions, and preparing witnesses.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of workers' compensation experience
• 2+ years of defense experience
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice law in Illinois

Responsibilities

• Billable hours: 1900-2000
• Manage a caseload of insurance defense cases, from initial claim evaluation to final resolution.
• Conduct thorough legal and factual research, and develop effective defense strategies for clients.
• Draft various legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs to support defense strategies.
• Handle written discovery, take and defend depositions, and prepare witnesses for these proceedings
