Job Summary

We’re looking for a hardworking and adaptable Production Utility Worker to support plant operations. In this role, you’ll operate equipment, maintain raw materials, and ensure plant cleanliness and efficiency across multiple production areas.

Job Responsibilities

As a Production Utility Worker at Cemex, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Equipment Operation: Operate wheel loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, forklifts, Bobcats, and sweepers.
  • Material Handling: Load, transport, and stack raw materials using reclaimers and loaders.
  • Production Support: Train as a Production Assistant and assist with unloading and raw material prep.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain plant cleanliness with hand tools and assist in equipment cleaning.
  • Safety: Follow all safety rules, use PPE, and exceed company safety expectations.
  • Additional Duties: Complete any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Language Skills: Commensurate with education
  • Mathematical Skills: Commensurate with education, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area and volume.
  • Reasoning Skills: Able to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understand instructions given by supervisor, possess common sense
Who We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should bring:

  • Educational and Licensing Requirements: High school diploma or GED. MSHA certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience: Previous cement plant or heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
  • Skills: Mechanical aptitude, ability to operate multiple systems and vehicles, basic math, reading, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read tape measures and use hand tools.
Working Conditions
  • Safety First: Wearing protective equipment and adhering to safety protocols is a must.
  • Dynamic Environment: Work in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, lifting (up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50lbs. frequently, 20 lbs. constantly), climbing, pushing, pulling, and using tools in physically demanding environments. Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including the ability to communicate verbally using a phone and radio, to hear verbal commands and audible alarms in order to safely operate around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems. Must be able to pass a physical exam to include back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test and drug / alcohol screen.
  • Work Schedule: Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
  • Work Location: This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.
