Eligible newly hired candidates hired into a position requiring a CDL will receive an incremental hiring incentive upon satisfactory job performance after completion of 3, 6, and 12 months of service. Valid Driver’s License: $1,500 one time hiring incentive to be paid in $500 increments (not added to base salary). This is a one-time incentive, and you will not be eligible for an additional incentive when you obtain your required CDL license. Class A or Class B CDL: $3,000 one time hiring incentive to be paid in $1,000 increments (not added to base salary). Continuation of this Recruitment/Hiring Incentive Program is subject to available funding and approval by the Manager.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System, Requires successful completion of a six month probationary period.
Pay Grade: 110
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes – CDL; Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
The purpose of this job is to perform manual work functions associated with installation of water/sewer service lines, operate equipment and clean sewer lines and manholes. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: installing, water and sewer mains and service line; performing labor activities; operating/maintaining equipment; transporting materials and supplies; and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Work Schedule: Normal work scheduled: Monday - Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm or Tuesday - Friday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. On call 24 hours / day 7 days a week. Variability of schedule will be discussed if offered an interview.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.
High school diploma or equivalent required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
