Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks a Workday Technical Lead to architect and deliver complex Workday integrations, Extend apps, and data solutions. You will translate ambiguous business needs into scalable designs, collaborate with the Product Owner and stakeholders, and drive implementation across Integrations, Orchestrate, iPaaS, and APIs.

Role emphasizes hands-on development, solution design, secure patterns, and staying current with Workday advancements and AI opportunities in HR tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience with at least 2+ years of hands-on Workday technical experience, including deep expertise in Workday integration development, security, reports and business processes.
• Relevant experience can substitute for the degree; in the absence of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of related experience is required.
• Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Workday Orchestrate
• Workday Certification in Orchestrate/Integrations
• Experience with Workday Business Processes and Security Configuration.
• Strong experience building reports with Workday Report Writer
• Proven experience building Workday Extend applications
• Possess a track record of utilizing AI/Agents to supercharge development
• Strong command of XML, SQL, JSON, etc
• Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP, and GraphQL in an enterprise integration context
• Familiarity with middleware/iPaaS platforms such as MuleSoft or data platforms like Snowflake/Power BI
• Solid understanding of security and authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML)
• Ability to design solutions under ambiguity and incomplete requirements
• Experience with integration testing, release management, and operational best practices
• Strong documentation habits and cross-functional communication

Responsibilities

• Lead solution design efforts for complex Workday initiatives, including ambiguous requirements.
• Translate business needs into technical designs, producing architecture diagrams, data flow models, and technical specifications.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Workday solutions across a broad range of tools and patterns (Integrations, Orchestrate, iPaaS, APIs, Extend, Data Lakes).
• Implement secure integration patterns using OAuth, SAML, and related standards.
• Re-architect and modernize integrations to advance SNC tech stack.
• Execute proactive monitoring, performance management, break-fix triage, and troubleshooting across Workday integrations.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including runbooks and architecture records.
• Partner with Product Owner and stakeholders to gather requirements and drive solutions to completion.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical peers and non-technical partners.
• Stay current on Workday platform advancements and AI/LLM opportunities in HR tech.
• Continuously improve integration methodologies, development standards, and team practices.

We are looking for a Workday Technical lead who can roll up their sleeves and build, while also thinking critically to architect elegant solutions from ambiguous, evolving requirements.

This role directly reports to the Workday IT Product Owner. You will be the go-to technical point of contact for our Workday developer platform — Integrations, Extend, AI, and Data — partnering with the Product Owner and business stakeholders to turn loosely defined problems into well-designed, scalable solutions. As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Solution Design & Technical Leadership

• Lead solution design efforts for complex Workday initiatives, including when requirements are ambiguous or incomplete — bringing structure, clarity, and a path forward
• Translate business needs into technical designs, producing architecture diagrams, data flow models, and detailed technical specifications

Workday Development & Engineering

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Workday solutions across a broad range of tools and patterns, including:

• Integrations
• Orchestrate
• Ipaas/Middleware platforms
• RaaS(Report-as-a-Service) andREST/SOAP APIs
• GRAPHQL
• Extend
• Agent Builders
• Data Lakes
• Implement secure integration patterns usingOAuth, SAML, and other modern authentication standards
• Re-architect and re-build integrations to modernize the SNC tech stack

Platform Operations & Support

• Execute proactive monitoring, performance management, break-fix triage, and troubleshooting across the Workday integration landscape
• Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including specifications, runbooks, and architecture decision records

Stakeholder Partnership & Cross-Functional Execution

• Partner with the Product Owner and business stakeholders to gather requirements, lead technical design discussions, and drive solutions to completion
• Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to both technical peers and non-technical business partners

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay current on Workday platform advancements, new features, and industry trends — especially emergingAI/LLM opportunities within the HR tech space
• Continuously improve integration methodologies, development standards, and team practices

Qualifications You Must Have

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $124,771.42 - $171,560.71. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
