Summary of Job Duties:The Work-Study/ Maintenance Assistant will work with a variety of staff and students in the UALR Donaghey Student Center. The position is vital to the success of everyday operations at the Donaghey Student Center. The assistant will gain a large amount of knowledge in understanding daily operations and minor maintenance repairs of a large university student center. It offers the opportunity to grow as a student and professional. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Be resourceful in finding appropriate information to answer customer and employee questions;

  • Communicate and work well with staff and customers;

  • Be able to work within a variety of departments and settings;

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED;

  • Must have proof of work-study award;

  • Must be open to learning new skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with the campus and the A-Z directory on the UALR website;

  • Greet visitors/students;

  • Assist with unclogging drains, sinks, or toilets as needed;

  • Replace light bulbs as needed;

  • Assist with general maintenance duties such as touch-up paint;

  • Help with other tasks as needed;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Be a responsible and dependable person;

  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills;

  • Be self-motivated and customer-service oriented;

  • Be able to work independently and as a part of a productive team;

  • Be flexible and willing to assist when and where there is a need;

  • Must be comfortable working from elevated heights.
