Job summary

Cheeky Monkey Media is seeking a web developer with strong WordPress expertise to join our in‑office team in Kelowna. You will work on client projects using the WordPress framework, build custom themes, and integrate plugins while learning Drupal and React.

A background in PHP development and Linux/Apache‑MySQL stack is desirable. You should be deadline‑driven, able to manage multiple projects, and comfortable collaborating with a fun, dog‑friendly, Nerf‑friendly team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of WordPress development experience.
• Experience integrating open source and third‑party applications.
• Proficiency with Linux administration, Apache, MySQL, PHP web development.
• Strong hand‑coded HTML & CSS and knowledge of W3C standards.
• Familiarity with GIT and SVN version control.

Responsibilities

• Build websites (custom and standard) on the WordPress framework.
• Navigate community plugins and develop theme templates from designs.
• Commit work to GIT repositories and review peers’ code.
• Develop custom JavaScript and perform front‑end work for themes.
• Write test scripts and investigate performance bottlenecks.
• Deploy work to development environments and demo to clients.
• Continual learning to expand technical knowledge.
