Job summary

Northern Kentucky University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Woodwinds. The successful candidate will teach a full undergraduate load, including applied lessons in flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon, while coordinating the Woodwind Area and contributing to curriculum oversight within a NASM-accredited program.

Responsibilities include recruiting and maintaining a high-quality applied studio, coaching chamber ensembles, and offering secondary-area courses such as

Qualifications

• Demonstrated potential for a successful teaching career and ongoing engagement in professional, pedagogical, and/or scholarly activities.
• University-level teaching experience is preferred (two years).
• Evidence of ongoing professional, creative, pedagogical, and/or scholarly engagement.
• Commitment to student-centered teaching and to inclusive, supportive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Teach applied studio flute, oboe, clarinet, or bassoon to undergraduate students.
• Recruit and maintain high-quality applied studios through teaching and performance activities.
• Coach woodwind chamber ensembles and other collaborative chamber music experiences.
• Coordinate the Woodwind Area within the Music Program.
• Teach secondary areas such as music theory or music history as assigned.
• Mentor students, maintain office hours, and advise and support student progress.
