Job summary

Baltimore School of Music in Baltimore, MD is seeking a part-time Woodwind Teacher (flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone) to join our community faculty. This W-2 position offers $30–$35 per teaching hour and a schedule of 2–3 days weekly, with afternoon and some weekend hours.

Responsibilities include private instruction, tailoring lessons to student goals, preparing for recitals, and maintaining notes. Qualifications include a music degree or equivalent teaching experience, private-teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent professional teaching experience preferred; current college students pursuing a degree in music are encouraged to apply
• Previous private teaching experience in flute, clarinet, oboe, or saxophone
• Strong performance skills in the instrument or instruments you teach
• Ability to adapt instruction to students of different ages, abilities, and musical interests
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for teaching and helping students grow as musicians
• Reliable availability during scheduled teaching days
• Authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, high-quality private instruction in your woodwind specialty or specialties to children, teens, and adults
• Teach 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons tailored to each student’s experience, interests, and goals
• Help students develop strong technique, tone production, breath support, music-reading skills, and musicianship
• Teach proper instrument care and maintenance
• Prepare students for recitals, auditions, school ensembles, and other performance opportunities
• Build positive relationships with students and families that support long-term musical growth
• Encourage participation in recitals and other school programs that enrich the student experience
• Maintain accurate lesson notes and communicate student progress when appropriate
• Participate in faculty meetings, recitals, and other school activities as requested
