Job summary

Mystic Seaport in Connecticut seeks a skilled shipwright to perform structural repairs on wooden hulls, craft masts and spars, and lead small teams. You will also maintain shipyard equipment and document work through photos and notes.

Ideal candidates have five years of hands-on timber shipbuilding experience, own a personal tool kit, and can work outdoors year-round in varying conditions. A CT driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Five years hands-on experience in traditional wooden ship construction.
• Boat School graduates preferred.
• Holds standard driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural repairs to wooden hull components (frames, planks, beams, knees, decks).
• Build and repair wooden masts, spars, and laminated construction.
• Build or repair wooden deck furniture and hardware.
