Job summary

Stellantis NV is seeking a skilled Wood Model Maker for our Prototype Wood Model Shop. You will build rough stock for CNC, hand craft parts, and finish sand and coat models for lamination or vacuum forming.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least one year of relevant experience, and the ability to read 2D and 3D drawings. Journeyman status and wood working machinery knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Journeyman Wood Model Maker.
• Able to read 2D and 3D drawings.
• Able to create model from 3D drawing.
• Experience with fiberglass & carbon fiber lamination process.
• Familiar with sanding sealer application.
• Ability to read height gauges and calipers.

Job description

We are looking for a Wood Model Maker in our Prototype Wood Model Shop (Concept Tooling). The candidate will build rough stock for CNC machines, hand build parts, and finish sand and coat models for lamination or Vacuum forming.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience
• Journeyman Wood Model Maker
• Working knowledge of Planners, Jointers, Band saws, Table saws, and other wood working machinery
• Able to read 2d and 3d drawings
• Able to create model from 3D drawing
• Working knowledge of Fiberglass & Carbon Fiber lamination process
• Proper use and type of sandpaper
• Proper use and type of wood filler
• Able to read height gages, calipers and use scribe tools
• Proper use of spray gun for application of sanding sealer
• Able Glue up stock in preparation for CNC machine.
• Square a base.
• Build a perfect plank base.
• Flatten stock for mounting.
• Drill holes in stock
• Drill & countersink holes in base.
• Thorough understanding of CNC milling processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of model building experience
• Able to laminate and trim fiberglass and carbon fiber parts.
• Exposed to urethane mold making.
