Responsibilities

Employment Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Shift: 12 Hour Rotating Schedule (5:50pm - 6am)

Reports to: Material Handling Manager

Pay Bracket $16.23 - $21.09 / hour + 10% shift differential

Job Summary

To set-up and operate necessary equipment to produce pellets that will meet or exceed the customer’s expectations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Be able to start up all machinery and equipment and make any adjustments necessary to obtain a high-quality wood pellet product
• Perform pellet mill roll resets
• Responsible for filling out daily shift reports, including logging all necessary production reporting data.
• Assume responsibility for safety and housekeeping by following all safety rules, reporting safety hazards, and maintaining a clean work area.
• Assume responsibility for quality of pelletized products by completing audit sheets, labeling, and visual inspection of size.
• Assist in managing inventory levels of various wood pellet formulations
• Perform movement of all raw materials and wood pellets (forklift experience)
• Perform all necessary scanning transactions to move materials and disposition into inventory
• Grind wood scrap as required upon installation of scrap wood grinding system
• Assist in the training of new trainees by sharing knowledge and information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, Education and/or Relevant Experience

• Sit down and stand up forklift experience required
• Must have good mechanical aptitude and acceptable math skills (i.e., division, multiplication, fraction to decimal conversion, etc.)
• Ability to utilize a computer and handheld scanner
• Basic knowledge of raw materials (virgin, regrinds, colorants, etc.) used pelletizing process
• Able to understand written and verbal instruction and communicate the same.
• Able to learn and retain information on products, operating procedures, quality requirements, set-ups, etc.
• Able to work while standing for long periods (2 to 3 hours) and work in areas with temperatures approaching 115 degrees.
• Able to show constant process improvement, technical troubleshooting skills, team skills and leadership skills.
