Job summary

Plymouth State University seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as an Assistant Coach for Women’s Ice Hockey. The assistant will work with the Head Coach to support all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, team preparation, game management, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture.

Qualifications

• Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience in ice hockey.
• Strong knowledge of hockey fundamentals, systems, tactics, and player development.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with organization, administration, and day-to-day operations of the women’s ice hockey program.
• Assist with planning and conducting practices, skill-development sessions, team meetings, and game preparation.
• Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes to support development.
• Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes and building relationships with recruits and families.
• Assist with scouting opponents and developing game plans and strategies.
• Support game-day operations, including bench responsibilities, line management, and in-game adjustments.
• Help establish and maintain a positive team culture centered on accountability, respect, competitiveness, leadership, and academic success.
• Monitor and support the academic progress, personal development, and overall well-being of student-athletes.
• Assist with team travel, scheduling, equipment, fundraising, alumni engagement, camps/clinics, and other activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with campus partners, alumni, parents, and prospective student-athletes.
