Women’s Health Nurse‑Practitioner (Open Rank) – College of Nursing

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) for a 0.90 FTE position in the College of Nursing Women’s Health Faculty Practice. This ambulatory role includes well‑woman, reproductive health, menopause, and gynecological care across the lifespan, and requires a clinical provider appointment at the Open Rank level (Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice).

Faculty Practice

The WHNP will deliver care within the University of Colorado College of Nursing Women’s Health Clinic located at Anschutz Medical Campus. The position is part of an academic‑clinical practice model that collaborates with CU nursing faculty, other provider groups within the CU system, and community partners. The WHNP participates in practice expansion activities, promotion, and interdisciplinary committees.

Supervision

Work is performed independently under the direct supervision of the Director of Midwifery and Women’s Health. Student supervision is required during clinical placements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full‑scope care to patients across the lifespan, including procedures performed based on individual experience.
• Deliver care in the outpatient clinic setting.
• Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in at least one practice and/or College of Nursing committee.
• Educate health‑care team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and participate in student evaluations.
• Participate in practice development, promotion, and community outreach.
• Actively engage in health‑plan contract activities and maintain current credentialing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

• Four clinics per week.
• Monthly practice meeting attendance.
• Protected administrative time.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Instructor

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current National Certification for Nurse Practitioners.
• Current RN, APN, and RN licensure in good standing (Any State). Colorado licenses required at time of hire.

Senior Instructor

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current National Certification for Nurse Practitioners.
• Current RN, APN, and RN licensure in good standing (Any State). Colorado licenses required at time of hire.
• Demonstrated leadership in the area of practice.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Assistant Professor

• Doctoral degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current National Certification for Nurse Practitioners.
• Current RN, APN, and RN licensure in good standing (Any State). Colorado licenses required prior to hire.
• Demonstrated leadership in the area of practice.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Conditions of Employment

• Provide full‑scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.
• Obtain Colorado RN, APN, and RN licenses prior to hire.
• Obtain a DEA license within 18 months of hire.
• Obtain a valid NPI number prior to hire.
• Obtain a valid Colorado Medicaid provider number prior to hire.
• Complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to hire.
• Obtain current BLS/CPR certification by hire date.
• Actively participate in health‑plan contracts.
• Maintain current credentialing materials.
• Work in a normal patient‑care environment with exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current, active DEA licensure.
• Experience precepting advanced practice students.
