Baptist Memorial Health Care in Starkville, MS seeks a registered nurse to provide direct and indirect patient care in the assigned unit. You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and educate patients and families.

Requirements include RN licensure with BLS within 14 days of hire, ACLS/PALS certification, and 3–4 years of acute care experience. Emphasis on safety, empathy, and lifelong learning.

Responsabilités

• Assess patients appropriately based on their medical condition.
• Administer ordered medications and provide nursing care.
• Provide care appropriate to the patient’s condition and age, including basic self-care activities.
• Develop and evaluate teaching plans based on learning needs, involving family when appropriate.
• Utilize nursing knowledge to perform treatments and services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team in patient care.
• Assist physicians with procedures and tasks requiring manual skills.
• Address psychosocial needs of patients and families, coordinating post-discharge needs.

Job Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the assigned care setting. Communicates and collaborates with physicians, leadership, co-workers, and other multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. Provides high quality patient care utilizing critical thinking, nursing processes, decision making, compassion, integrity, respect, and empathy. Preserves the patient’s autonomy, dignity, and rights, and restores health whenever possible. Able to perform general nursing duties, patient education, and prioritization. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the patient appropriately and accurately based on their medical condition.
• Has knowledge of ordered medications and administers as prescribed.
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient including basic self‑care activities.
• Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.
• Demonstrates ability to utilize nursing knowledge to perform treatments and provide services.
• Communicates/collaborates with multidisciplinary team in providing patient care.
• Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with social services regarding both hospital and post‑discharge needs.
• Demonstrates cost‑effective practices and non‑wasteful usage of supplies, linen, and charge items.
• Prioritizes patient care effectively and efficiently.
• Promotes patient safety by reducing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with healthcare.
• Assumes lifelong learning related to the nursing profession.

Experience

• 3 years’ experience in current unit or in specialty area; OR 4 years’ experience in acute care hospital setting or comparable specialty area; AND provides evidence of 6 clinical nursing education contact hours attained during the previous 12 months.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Special Skills

• Computer literacy.

Licensure

• RN; BLS CERTIFICATION WITHIN 14 DAYS OF HIRE.
• ACLS/PALS Specialty Certification.
