Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking an Applied Skills Assistant to support lead teachers and students in the Applied Skills classroom at West Noble Middle School. This role focuses on creating an inclusive learning environment for 5th to 8th graders needing specialized academic and behavioral support.

The ideal candidate will assist with instructional support, help students manage their daily schedules, and ensure a positive classroom atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must meet the Highly Qualified standards set by the State of Indiana and the Federal government.

Responsibilities

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent

The Applied Skills Assistant provides essential support to the lead teacher and students within the Applied Skills classroom at West Noble Middle School. Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering modified lesson plans and providing one-on‑one or small‑group academic support.
• Student Advocacy: Help students navigate their daily schedules, ensuring they remain engaged and supported in their learning goals.
• Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment as directed by the teacher.
• Behavioral Assistance: Provide gentle guidance and implementation of behavioral intervention plans to help students succeed socially and academically.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the educational team to monitor student progress and adapt support as needed.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the Highly Qualified standards set by the State of Indiana and the Federal government:

• Age: Must be 18 years or older.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent, and one of the following:
• Completion of at least 60 college credit hours or
• A passing score on an approved qualifying exam (e.g., the ParaPro assessment or school-specific exams).
