Job summary

WLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, KY, is seeking a Local News Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) who can identify story ideas, shoot, write and edit video news packages for multiple platforms. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who loves telling stories authentically across all news platforms.

The MMJ will gather information, develop sources, and produce content for on-air, online, and digital platforms, including live shots and interviews, delivering high-quality reports under tight

Qualifications

• Experience in television news reporting, photography and editing.
• Creative writer and editor.
• Must deliver with authenticity to connect with viewers.
• Can provide samples of reporting and videography.
• Experience developing local contacts.
• Experience shooting and editing high-quality video.
• Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive news production.
• Related military experience will be considered.
• Must be flexible with schedule.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who loves telling stories in an authentic way and is comfortable communicating on all news platforms.

• Gather information for stories and live reports for newscasts that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays


• Coverage of breaking news, weather and sports


• Put together high-quality packages for all platforms - newscasts, digital and reels for all social platforms


• Develop sources, create story ideas, and produce content on-air, online, and all digital platforms


• Shoot live shots and live interviews, develop sources and pitch strong enterprise news stories

Requirements

• Professional or schooling experience in television news reporting, photography and editing


• Creative writer and editor


• Must deliver with authenticity to connect with viewers


• Can provide samples of reporting and videography


• Experience developing local contacts


• Experience shooting and editing high-quality video
