Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power, based in Michigan City, Indiana, seeks a Wirer to support production by wiring models to P&I, WD, and work instructions. The role requires reading BOM/PI/WD/WCI drawings and basic computer skills, with training in P&I/WD/Blueprints and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be involved in 6S activities, value stream mapping, TPM, and collection of QCPC data.

Responsibilities

• Wire product models to P&I, assembly drawings, WD drawings, and Work Instructions.
• Complete P&I, WD, and Blueprint training.
• Install heat trace per P&I, WD, and Work Instructions.
• Complete basic computer training.
• Utilize SAP, QMS, and Operator Portal for daily activities.
• Pass utility wiring qualifying exam.
• Pass lockout-tagout training and be comfortable working on high-voltage (575V) machines.
• Progression to wire all standard products model, at least (4) station built model families, and in-house starter boxes.
• Systematically troubleshoot electrical failures and assist in determining solutions.
• Notify Supervisor, Quality, and/or Engineering of BOM or part quality issues.
• Follow non-conformance part procedure.
• Flex between production lines and starter box wiring based upon production demands.

Summary of the position: The Wirer is a highly visible front-line position working with a production team of Wirers. This role will require quick decision making, assertiveness, great communication, and organization to meet production expectations and customer needs. Each Wirer is accountable for producing defect-free product within specifications. This position is located at the manufacturing plant of Hitachi Global Air Power in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the area Supervisor.
