Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or high school diploma with relevant experience and professional certification.
  • CCNA or CCNP professional certification.
  • Minimum three (3) years of wireless network administration experience, including site surveys, wireless design review, and enterprise project management.
  • Experience with Ekahau, Cisco Insider, and wireless survey tools.
  • Solid working knowledge of wireless network infrastructure, signal propagation, troubleshooting interference, coverage optimization, spectrum analysis, etc.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and switching, TCP/IP, FTP/HTTP(S), UDP, STP, VPN, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and communicate using fundamental network terminologies.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for network devices such as Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, UPS, and firewalls.
  • Ability to activate and configure Cisco network equipment and diagnose configuration issues via command line.
  • Experience creating network diagrams and deciphering topology.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard wireless network tools for surveys, design, and reporting.
  • Meticulous documentation skills, organized workspace, and effective teamwork or virtual collaboration.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership of tasks.

Job description

Job Title: Wireless Network Engineer

Location: Bethesda, Virginia

Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Security Clearance: Public Trust

Responsibilities
  • Leverage in-person and virtual connections to coordinate work actions, reducing the IT burden on NIH customers so they can focus on science.
  • Contribute your knowledge and experience to the collective pool at NIH, helping other IT professionals at the institute level work better for their community.
  • Collaborate with the CIT federal team and other service areas as ONE CIT to serve NIH.
  • Help ensure the network infrastructure, internet, and intranet services are available with maximum uptime by quickly and thoroughly responding to incidents, requests, and outages.
  • Utilize your networking expertise and evolving technologies to develop solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative, highly secure, and compliant environment that supports scientific discovery.
