Company: MIT Lincoln Laboratory

Position Description

The Group is seeking creative and enthusiastic candidates with an interest in applying wireless communication principles, as well as signal detection and machine learning techniques, to develop algorithms and radio design approaches that enable new capabilities in next-generation RF communication and sensing systems, and/or testing, integrating, and demonstrating these novel capabilities in hardware and real-time software in lab, vehicle, and flight environments.

Day-to-Day Activities
  • Design and/or analysis of communications and sensing algorithms and capabilities
  • Prototyping these capabilities, which may involve RF systems engineering and/or embedded signal processing
  • Oversight of lab testbed setup and configuration

  • Experience with communication and information theory is desirable. Equally open to applicants with a demonstrated background in a relevant technical area, such as mathematics, computer science, machine learning, RF systems engineering, and/or physics, who have a strong interest and motivation to apply their skills to problems in communications.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and set priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the use of scripting in languages such as MATLAB/Python to orchestrate lab/field tests and analyze results
  • Experience applying unsupervised and supervised machine learning techniques to solve signal/data processing problems
  • Experience designing or testing FPGA-based hardware designs and/or C++ software developed for real-time Linux operating systems
  • Exposure to test planning and execution of field experiments involving RF communications or sensing systems
