JOB DESCRIPTION/TYPICAL TASK BREAKDOWN
  • Design wire harness routings, support detailing, and checking prints.
  • Prepare and present at design reviews.
  • Ensure designs follow Caterpillar design guides and best practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Rigid Frame Truck Electrical Installation Team for Large Mining Trucks designs and supports electrical harnessing, cables, and associated hardware for the mining trucks tested in Tucson and built in Decatur, IL. The team’s design work is a blend of mechanical and electrical components. The core design team is in Tucson, AZ.
  • Responsible for using Creo and Electric Lines and Pro Cabling for the routing harnesses for Large Mining Trucks. Supporting the detailing and checking of prints. Supporting other engineering responsibilities such as cost rollups, FMEA, APQP, etc.
  • Requires good communication skills for working with peers and product group to develop and review designs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Years of experience: 8+ years
  • Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Accredited Engineering program (Mechanical or Electrical is preferred)
  • Not open to associates degrees
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Electrical Harness Design Experience (hydraulic integration design could also be considered)
  • Extensive Creo, Teamcenter, and/or Fluid lines experience
  • FMEAs
  • Experience in reading electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office computer tools (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Technical problem solving
  • Ensure designs follow design guides and best practices.
