Job summary

Ross Stores, Inc. is offering a two-week Winternship in New York City to join our Buyer Intern program.

You will work with experienced buying teams in a hands-on setting, gaining exposure to Open-to-Buy, regional merchandise analysis, and market visits, while learning our merchandising systems and warehouse workflows. You should be a college student graduating between December 2026 and May 2027, available to work Monday–Friday in-person during normal business hours, with an interest in numbers,

• Enrolled as a student with expected graduation in 2026–2027.
• Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office.
• Interest in retail and numbers and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Observe the administrative and operational functions supporting a designated Buyer.
• Analyze and interpret key business issues from regional reports and stock data.
• Attend market appointments and competitive shopping trips.
• Learn merchandising systems and warehouse processes.
• Demonstrate product knowledge through market insights.

During this two-week program, you will work alongside our expert buying teams, gaining first-hand experience of what it is like to be a Buyer at Ross. You’ll gain hands-on experience in the office and in the market, learning what it takes to buy brands customers want at great values. As an additional goal, there are many future full-time opportunities that await interns upon successful completion of the internship.

Assistant Buyer Intern

• Observe the administrative and operational functions supporting a designated Buyer.
• Analyze and interpret key business issues as directed by supervisor including the monitoring of regional merchandise reports, Open-to-Buy monitoring, and stock analysis.
• Attend market appointments and competitive shopping trips.
• Learn our merchandising systems and gain understanding of warehouse processes.
• Demonstrate product knowledge through sharing information with buyer as a result of competitive shopping, shopping Ross Stores, and the market.

Who you are...

• You are organized and pay attention to detail

• You are available to work the full program, Monday - Friday, in-person during traditional business hours

The program will take place from Monday, January 11th through Friday, January 22nd, 2027. (Excluding Monday, 1/18/27 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day).
