Montana Supply Co. in Big Sky, MT is seeking a Winter Seasonal Sales Associate to provide exceptional in-store service and help drive sales. This non-exempt, hourly role supports customer engagement, product knowledge, and accurate checkout processes.

Housing will be provided by the employer, and the role reports to the Sales Manager and team leaders. Training includes Lightspeed POS, with opportunities for growth and a 40% employee discount.

Qualifications

• Some high school or equivalent education.
• Basic technology skills (e.g., apps, iPads).
• Handling cash and small financial transactions.
• Basic literacy and math skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers professionally and courteously.
• Memorize store policies, current promotions, and events.
• Provide accurate information regarding merchandise, store policies, and local insights; escalate issues when appropriate.
• Engage with customers using product knowledge and active listening.
• Stay updated on new product releases, floor layout, and inventory.
• Operate cash registers accurately.
• Execute trained up-selling techniques.
• Communicate outstanding customer transactions or needs to Supervisors at shift end or before breaks.
• Coordinate with Store Manager, Shift Leaders, and team members on sales goals and floor management.
• Report any technical or operational issues.
• Complete Opening, Closing, and Daily Task Sheets.
• Maintain sales floor appearance per merchandising standards.
• Restock products and support additional tasks delegated by Supervisors.
• Apply newly learned sales techniques during customer interactions.
• Continue training via the Lightspeed Retail POS Skills Sheet.

Position Overview

The Sales Associate is anon-exempt, hourly full-time seasonal position responsible for profitably selling merchandise and facilitating an exceptional in-store experience for Montana Supply customers. This role reports directly to Supervisors, including the Sales Manager, Assistant Sales Manager and Sales Leaders.

Primary Duties

1. Customer Service (80%)

• Greet customers professionally and courteously.
• Memorize store policies, current promotions, and events.
• Provide accurate information regarding merchandise, store policies, and local insights; escalat issues when appropriate.
• Engage with customers using product knowledge and active listening.
• Stay updated on new product releases, floor layout, and inventory.
• Operate cash registers accurately.
• Execute trained up-selling techniques.
• Communicate outstanding customer transactions or needs to Supervisors at shift end or before breaks.

2. Operations (15%)

• Coordinate with Store Manager, Shift Leaders, and team members on sales goals and floor management.
• Report any technical or operational issues.
• Complete Opening, Closing, and Daily Task Sheets.
• Maintain sales floor appearance per merchandising standards.
• Restock products and support additional tasks delegated by Supervisors.

3. Sales Skill Development (5%)

• Apply newly learned sales techniques during customer interactions.
• Continue training via the Lightspeed Retail POS Skills Sheet .
