Job summary

Oregon Department of Forestry is hiring Winter Seasonal Natural Resource Specialist 1 to support fuels reduction projects and grant administration from Oct 2026 through Jun 2027. The role involves on-ground coordination, liaison work with districts and counties, and technical guidance for landowners on fire planning.

Applicants should have 3 years of forestry experience or a Bachelor's in forestry. The position requires a valid driver's license and may involve field operations during wildfire

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in Forestry or a closely related natural resource field.
• A bachelor's degree in Forestry or a closely related natural resource field.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-ground and administrative process coordination for fuels reduction projects.
• Serve as liaison with rural fire districts, extension agents, cities and counties.
• Provide technical forest management advisory to private landowners on fire planning and fuel reductions.
• Maintain project tracking systems and assist with expenditure tracking.
• Document on-ground progress using GPS and GIS tools.
• Assist with grant administration and management of federal grant projects.
• Coordinate with program staff to resolve project issues and conduct site reviews.
• Support wildfire emergency operations and incident response as needed.
