Job summary

Hartford Public Schools is seeking Winter Athletic Coaches for the 2026-2027 school year at HMTCA. Open sports include Boys Varsity and JV Basketball, Girls Varsity and JV Basketball, Coed Cheerleading, Varsity Coed Indoor Track, Developmental Indoor Track, and Strength and Conditioning.

Positions report to the Principal and emphasize skill development and sportsmanship. Candidates should have three years coaching experience, strong leadership, and the ability to work with staff, students, and

Qualifications

• Three years coaching experience in the identified area.
• Experience working with staff, students and parents in an urban setting.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Hartford Public Schools’ coaching regulations.
• Familiarity with CIAC and NFHS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement ongoing coaching programs for student-athletes.
• Plan practices and coordinate with Athletics Supervisor for contests.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanship during all activities.
• Maintain attendance forms, insurance records and related paperwork.
• Oversee safety of facilities and equipment distribution.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

CT Coaching Permit

First Aid & CPR certification

Concussion Training

Mandated Reporter Training
