Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows-based platform infrastructure across development, test, and production environments.
  • Engineer, automate, and document system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain services.
  • Implement and maintain system security configurations in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements (STIGs, RMF).
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize platform reliability and availability.
  • Coordinate patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle maintenance of Windows systems.
  • Collaborate with Agile software, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and test teams to support platform integration and delivery.
  • Maintain documentation, baselines, and architecture artifacts to support program requirements.
  • Identify risks, recommend improvements, and support modernization initiatives across platform environments.

Salary Range: $105,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually

JOB SUMMARY

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Windows Platform Engineer to join our team of technical professionals supporting Government customers and national security mission requirements. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, automation, and sustainment of Windows-based platform environments supporting mission-critical defense systems and software-intensive applications.

The position involves working within Government-provided environments while supporting secure infrastructure operations, platform modernization, DevSecOps integration, and enterprise system lifecycle management activities. As a member of the Specialty Systems team, you will contribute directly to secure and reliable platform solutions supporting critical defense and intelligence missions.

This position is located at our customer site location. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9-hour days (M-Th) and an 8-hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9-hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3-day weekend every other week!

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows-based platform infrastructure across development, test, and production environments.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance within approximately four weeks after submission of the clearance application.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Windows-based enterprise environments or platform engineering roles.
  • Security+ CE or ability to obtain within 3–6 months.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and system security.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining compliance standards (STIG, RMF, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Navy or DoD programs.
  • Experience with cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Git, and artifact/configuration repositories.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes on Windows).
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Microsoft Server Administrator).
  • Experience with virtualized environments (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper‑V).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, or similar).
