Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Window Machine Operator in training to set up and operate machines.
  • Set up and operate machines following standard operating procedures.
  • Learn to analyze production problems and troubleshoot with supervision.
  • Ensure quality and safety during operation and perform routine maintenance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Assist the Window Machine Operator to train and learn the position in an approved training program learning to set up and operate machines.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and Operate machine(s) in a consistent manner as instructed and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Learn and implement the set-up of the machine in a consistent manner as instructed
  • Maintain the procedures concerning proper set up unless a change is approved and properly recorded
  • Learn to analyze and correct production problems as they occur, contacting the supervisor/operator for assistance when needed
  • Have the capacity to enact learned troubleshooting methods on one’s own when filling in
  • Be responsible for learning and verifying the quality of the product manufactured
  • Able to make machine adjustments in order to maintain machine at safety, quality, and production standards
  • At the beginning of each shift, check previous shift's report to determine status of run
  • Set up machine to precise measurements and alignments within allotted time for next production run assuring a straight and smooth flow through the feed section
  • Use attachments and make adjustments to assure proper windowing and adjust the stacking section to assure the blanks are stacking uniformly
  • Uses computer system to log productivity and remarks on job, accurately completes production report, and record production data
  • Start equipment and adjust machine as required to attain target speeds
  • Be responsible for the quality of the product manufactured
  • Check for scrap and quality defects; continuously check for quality defects of finished product
  • Operate the machine in a safe manner and to notify supervision of any unsafe conditions that might exist
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance
  • Communicates well with other team members
  • Wears appropriate PPE for the task and the area.
  • Welcomes updates and improvements to processes and follows new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Performs work in a manner that keeps down time to a minimum
  • Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systems
  • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions
  • May be asked to help with duties in other areas or departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
