Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) seeks an In-Shop Technician to perform hands-on rewinding and testing of electromechanical equipment. You will work on varied tasks, solving problems that keep critical industry equipment running.

The role emphasizes safety, skill development, and growth within IPS. You will handle rewinding, inspection, documentation, and testing per standards, contributing to reliability across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

• Experience in rewinding AC and DC electric motors.
• Winding fields, armatures, and synchronous rotor poles.
• Basic math including fractions, using measurements.
• Read/write/understand simple to moderately complex instructions.
• Understand and follow job-related safety procedures and training.
• Ability to operate and perform VPI.
• Show initiative and sound judgment within company standards.
• Operate machinery and hoists used in rewinding work.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Rewind various electromechanical equipment.
• Dismantle and strip damaged equipment, including media blasting.
• Inspect equipment for winding damage and malfunctions.
• Document data on unit electromagnetic characteristics and conditions.
• Prepare reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts.
• Strip stator or apparatus without core damage.
• Test rewound equipment per EASA Standards and log results.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Rewind various kinds of electromechanical equipment
• Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electromechanical equipment, including media blasting
• Inspect various kinds of electromechanical equipment for winding damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions
• Document and record all relevant data specific to the unit's electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability
• Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions
• Strip stator or apparatus without damage to core or iron
• Test rewound electromechanical equipment according to EASA Standards and document test results

Qualifications and Competencies

• Experience in rewinding AC and DC electric motors
• Prior practice in winding fields, armatures, and synchronous rotor poles
• Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division including understanding fractions
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple to moderately complex written and verbal instructions
• Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job‑related training, operational, and safety procedures
• Ability to operate and perform VPI
• Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision‑making related to routine duties within the company set company standards
• Ability to operate machinery and hoists
• Ability to work overtime as needed
