Job summary

Avangrid Power is seeking a Wind Turbine Repair Specialist to perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs across our onshore fleet. This traveling role requires living near OR, WA, IA, IL, PA, NY, TX or MN and roughly 70% travel.

You will lead field troubleshooting, generate technical reports, develop service bulletins, and train technicians. A 5+ year technical background in wind energy is required, with experience on Gamesa, GE or Suzlon platforms.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the wind energy industry.
  • Degree in engineering, math, physics, or other technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and planning abilities; applies sound technical judgment.
  • Ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 120 meters and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the United States, with approximately 70% travel required.
  • Experience inspecting and repairing wind turbine drivetrains, blades, gear boxes, generators on Gamesa, GE, and Suzlon platforms.
  • Proficiency with standard office software: word processing, spreadsheets, email.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, repairs, and corrective maintenance across all turbine platforms focusing on structural components and major systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to field technicians on maintenance, operation, and repair activities.
  • Conduct End-of-Warranty/Contract inspections and deliver clear summary reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop and support technical documentation, including service bulletins and work instructions.
  • Own the review, approval, and publication of procedures and reference materials for field maintenance and inspections.
  • Investigate component failures and anomalies through field diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
  • Analyze failure trends and prepare reports to support fleet reliability improvements.
  • Review supplier root-cause analyses and corrective action plans.
  • Support internal testing, measurement, and evaluation of corrective solutions.
  • Collaborate with Commercial teams to develop and qualify alternative supplier repair solutions.
  • Evaluate tools, equipment, and emerging technologies to enhance field capabilities.
  • Support Stop/Run decisions based on technical assessments.
  • Assist in training field technicians on maintenance best practices.

Job description

The Wind Turbine Repair Specialist conducts inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on wind turbine components across Avangrid’s onshore fleet.

Location: Traveling position – live in/near OR, WA, IA, IL, PA, NY, TX or MN.

Salary Range: $47.50 to $52.75 hourly, DOE.

Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections, repairs, and corrective maintenance across all wind turbine generator platforms, focusing on structural components and major systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field technicians on maintenance, operation, and repair activities.
  • Conduct End‑of‑Warranty/Contract inspections, analyze findings, and deliver clear summary reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and support technical documentation, including service bulletins and work instructions.
  • Own the review, approval, and publication of procedures and reference materials for field maintenance and inspections.

  • Analyze failure trends and prepare reports to support reliability improvements across the fleet.

  • Collaborate with Commercial teams to develop and qualify alternative supplier repair solutions.
  • Evaluate tools, equipment, and emerging technologies to enhance field capabilities.
  • Support operational Stop/Run decisions for wind turbines based on technical assessments.
  • Assist in training field technicians on maintenance best practices and procedures.
Qualifications

  • Proven experience performing inspections and repairs on wind turbine drivetrains, blades, gear boxes, generators, etc., including hands‑on knowledge of Gamesa, GE, and Suzlon platforms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe and effective use of electrical and mechanical tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.
