Join one of the world's leading suppliers of wind power solutions as a Wind Service Technician with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving problems independently, providing excellent service to customers, working on complex wind turbine systems in challenging environments, and participating in the development of new field procedures and best practices. Travel to support sites across Iowa up to 25% of the time may be required in the first year.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Service and maintenance of wind turbines
- Troubleshoot errors on wind turbines
- Escalate technical issues to supporting engineering functions
- Support other sites across Iowa as needed
- Provide excellent customer service
- Participate in the development of new improved field procedures and best practices
- Work inside wind turbine enclosures at elevated heights (~300 feet)
- Maintain composure in stressful and hazardous situations, such as confined spaces
- Complete extensive safety and technical training and testing
- Meet physical requirements, including ladder climbing, stair climbing, standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, and working in vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions
- Expand technical ability and take on additional roles at an operating wind farm
What You Bring
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; periodic driver abstract checks may apply
- Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces
- Flexible travel schedule
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Self‑motivated, able to think quickly and address issues as they arise
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning abilities for daily/weekly work with high quality standards
- Competent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other platforms
- Body weight restriction of 265 pounds or less, as required by safety regulations
- Pass a medical physical administered by a practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions
