Job summary

Siemens Gamesa is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician for our Taft, Texas wind farm. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot turbines, and support a mobile team covering additional sites as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years in a technical field, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks including climbing towers. Travel and safety are emphasized throughout the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in electrical or mechanical fields preferred.
• At least 2 years in a technical, mechanical, or electrical role related to wind turbines.
• Ability to work safely in a team and meet physical demands; medical exam required.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.
• Hands-on electrical experience including PLCs and converters is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform repairs in a safe and timely manner.

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Wind Turbine Technician, you’ll be responsible for the routine service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. While based at Taft, Texas wind farm, you’ll also support a mobile team that covers up to three additional sites as needed.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Diagnosing faults and performing repairs in a safe and timely manner
• Climbing turbines (up to 300 feet) and working in confined spaces at elevation
• Responding effectively to stressful or hazardous situations, ensuring the safety of yourself and your team
• Recording and reporting service activity accurately using company tools and protocols
• Supporting the development and feedback process for new and revised field procedures
• Maintaining compliance with safety standards, site rules, and environmental protocols
• Being physically prepared for job demands including ladder climbing (minimum 87 meters), lifting, bending, working overhead, and operating in adverse weather conditions
• Traveling as required to support other sites and contribute to broader operational needs
• You may also take on additional site lead level responsibilities depending on project needs and your experience.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in electrical or mechanical systems is preferred. Various combinations of training and experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a technical, mechanical, or electrical field, ideally related to wind turbines.
• Proven ability to work safely in a team setting and meet physical demands, including weight restrictions under 265 lbs and passing a job-specific medical exam.
• Strong skills in planning, problem-solving, and independent decision-making with a focus on quality and safety.
• Hands on experience with electrical systems, including PLCs and converters; customer-facing experience is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
