Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Wind Technician to support operations across the Oklahoma Hub. The role involves routine maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of wind turbine systems, with travel across sites and adherence to safety standards.

Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or GED and wind-related experience or two years in electrical work, plus valid driver’s license and flexibility for shifts and overnight stays.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience as Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic, or 2 years electrical work experience.
  • Passing Technical Knowledge Assessment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 ft daily.
  • Meet manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear.
  • Willingness to work in various environments (industrial, manufacturing, power industry).
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Flexibility for rotating shift schedules, on-call, and occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Execute contractual obligations with site and hub leadership, covering electrical and mechanical equipment of GE wind turbine generators.
  • Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable‑pitch and variable‑speed turbines.
  • Contribute to all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision and adhere to safety requirements.
  • Conduct diagnostic electrical analysis and document work using computer‑based service reporting procedures.
  • Collaborate with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.

Job description

GE’s Onshore wind power capacity is growing fast and will continue to rise steadily in the coming years. As GE expands and develops new and existing wind sites, a dedicated Wind Technician is required to maintain turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repairs.

Location & Pay
  • Non‑remote position within the Oklahoma Hub 2; you will travel to all sites in the hub.
  • Base pay ranges from $31.68 to $42.20 per hour. Geographic differential of 110–130% applies to certain areas.
Responsibilities

Desired Characteristics
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field.
  • Technical certification in wind energy or electrical/electronic field.
  • Experience working collaboratively with personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm.
  • Wind turbine experience.
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools.
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance, including crane and rigging knowledge.
