Job summary

GE Wind Services in Clinton, IL is seeking a skilled Wind Technician to join our field operations team. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on large turbines, perform maintenance, and document all work in our service reporting system.

You may work with site leadership to meet customer requirements, respond to remote operations as needed, and handle rotating shifts with on-call duties. A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year wind technician/Mechanic experience or related certificate/Associate in Energy.
• Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and climb towers 300+ feet.
• Flexibility for rotating shifts and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities
• Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines
• Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision
• Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis
• Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
• Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience
• Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
• Basic computer skills
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted
• Climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
• Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
• Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs
