Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering (required or preferred).

• Proficiency in Word and Excel; SAP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes, MRP systems, and ISO standards.
• Ability to prioritize, manage high-volume workload, and collaborate across teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, leadership, negotiation, organizational, presentation, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.

Winchester is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Commodity Manager to lead the organization’s commodity sourcing and procurement operations. This role is accountable for developing and executing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with Olin and U.S. Government policies, and driving profit contribution through optimized sourcing decisions. The Commodity Manager will support Winchester Ammunition manufacturing operations by procuring specialized materials, supplies, services, and equipment. This position may also oversee compliance with FAR and other government procurement requirements.

Commodity Manager Essential Job Functions:

• Lead strategy development for assigned commodity categories, including supplier development, technology assessments, cost competitiveness reviews, and resolution of technical capability issues with Engineering.
• Evaluate cost savings opportunities and lead Value Analysis initiatives.
• Solicit bids, analyze quotations, recommend suppliers, and conduct supplier interviews.
• Purchase materials, components, and services at the most favorable combination of price, quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
• Negotiate complex supply agreements involving market indexing and futures based on forecasted demand.
• Monitor market trends and economic forecasts related to assigned commodities; evaluate impacts on Winchester spending and recommend strategic actions.
• Assess supplier health, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead inventory reduction efforts by collaborating with Production Scheduling to ensure efficient delivery schedules and quantities that support raw material and WIP inventory targets.
• Direct work assignments for buyers and assistant buyers; review and release purchase orders prepared by assistant buyers.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance, coordinate annual supplier ratings, and resolve issues related to nonconforming material, poor quality, surplus, obsolete, or incorrect materials.
  

Commodity Manager Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree*; Business or Engineering discipline preferred.
• Minimum six years of related purchasing experience, including at least two years of leadership.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel; SAP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes, MRP systems, and ISO standards.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage a high‑volume workload, and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, negotiation, organizational, presentation, problem‑solving, project management, and decision‑making skills.
  

Location-Specific Requirements:

• This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.

*Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent program from an international university.
