Job summary

Tacoma Power's Generation division seeks a Wildlife & Lands Manager to lead wildlife, forestry, recreation, habitat and land management on lands tied to hydroelectric projects. The role directs staff, develops scopes and budgets, and ensures compliance with FERC licenses and environmental permits.

With a focus on collaboration across the natural resources team, you will supervise staff, advance safety and stewardship, and engage with stakeholders to support project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, forestry, resource management, archeology or related field.
• 5 years of experience including 1 year in a senior/lead/supervisory role.
• Washington State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support professional development of Wildlife and Lands staff.
• Set staff and workgroup goals and monitor performance.
• Develop and implement scopes, schedules and budgets for capital and non-capital projects.
• Create and maintain policies and staff procedures for shoreline and land use activities on Tacoma hydroelectric projects.
• Provide FERC hydroelectric project license support involving cultural resources, wildlife habitat, and lands and shoreline management.
• Oversee preparation of maps, letters, reports, and management plans for FERC license implementation and land management.
• Participate in FERC license negotiations and coordination meetings.
• Direct and participate in management of wildlife, habitat and recreation mitigation lands as required for FERC license compliance.
• Oversee wildlife and vegetation surveys, monitoring, habitat restoration and enhancement projects with volunteers, agencies, and TPU staff.
• Active participation on natural resources management team to improve safety and processes.
• Establish and implement wildlife agreements and management plans.
• Acquire and monitor compliance with environmental permits.
• Participate in educational, professional and public relations efforts.
• Assist with permits and easements on Tacoma Power property.
• Assist with enforcement actions on Tacoma Power property.

This position is responsible for directing, overseeing and implementing Generation-Natural Resources' wildlife, forestry, recreation, habitat, land, shoreline and cultural resource management on lands associated with the hydroelectric projects owned and operated by Tacoma Power

Responsibilities Include

• Create and maintain policies and staff procedures designed to direct the planning and implementation of shoreline and land use activities associated with Tacoma hydroelectric projects
• Provide FERC hydroelectric project license support involving cultural resources, wildlife habitat, and lands and shoreline management
• Oversee the preparation of maps, letters, reports, and management plans that pertain to FERC license implementation and land management
• Participate in FERC license negotiations and implementation coordination meetings
• Direct and participate in the management of wildlife, habitat and recreation mitigation lands as required for FERC license compliance
• Oversee wildlife and vegetation surveys, monitoring, habitat restoration and enhancement projects, wildlife lands maintenance habitat and recreation projects with volunteers, agencies, and TPU staff
• Active participation on natural resources management team to collaborate on initiatives and projects focused on continuous improvement of safety, natural resources processes, practices, and culture.
• Establish and implement wildlife agreements and management plans
• Acquire and monitor compliance with federal, state and local environmental permits
• Participate in educational, professional and public relations efforts
• Assist with the preparation and issuance of permits and easements on Tacoma Power property
• Assist with and support enforcement actions on Tacoma Power property.

Minimum Education*

Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, forestry, resource management, archeology or other scientific field related to assignment

Minimum Experience*

5 years including 1 year prior at senior, lead and/or supervisory level

Washington State Driver's License

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

Pay Details:

Annual Salary: $122,096.00 - $171,953.60
