Job summary

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are seeking four habitat specialists to implement wildlife habitat management near Williamsburg, MO. You will work under a crew lead on private lands and designated public lands, performing prescribed fire, seed collection, native plant establishment, and invasive species control.

The role requires physical endurance, ability to lift 50+ pounds, and strong communication with landowners and partners.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of environmental, ecological, and/or natural resource science.
• Preference for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in ecology, forestry, or wildlife management.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Strong communication with landowners, colleagues, and partner agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead habitat management work with private landowners and public lands within ~50 miles of Williamsburg, MO.
• Implement edge feathering, herbicide application, prescribed burning, and native grass/forb establishment.
• Assist crew lead in procuring supplies and equipment per best practices.
• Provide habitat management technical assistance to landowners.
• Assist with grant reporting duties with collaborating organizations.
• Serve as burn crew member on public and private lands.
• Ensure timely reporting and data entry of activities.
