Job summary

Department of Game, Fish and Parks in Chamberlain seeks an Intern - Wildlife Habitat Management for the Summer session (May - August). The intern will assist in noxious weed control, herbicide application, and habitat planning, gaining supervisory skills and possibly leading the program.

Responsibilities include creating habitat management plans and supporting food plots initiatives. Ideal candidates are enrolled students with ATV/UTV experience and knowledge of South Dakota’s weed programs,

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in the upcoming semester or immediately preceding semester.
• Preference may be given to junior/senior and South Dakota residents and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the noxious weed control program, including herbicide application and required data entry.
• Gain supervisory skills and potentially become lead of the noxious weed control program.
• Create Habitat Management plans to plant shrubs, native grass seedings, and assist in food plots program.
• Assist Region II staff with projects such as posting signs, mowing trails/parking areas, fencing, and wildlife habitat work.
