Job summary

SPCA Tampa Bay Florida Inc. is seeking a full-time Wildlife Care Attendant to join our animal shelter team. You will provide daily, humane care to wildlife in rehabilitation, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and administering medications under supervision.

You may assist with transporting injured wildlife using our organization-owned vehicle and will communicate with community members and volunteers, delivering excellent customer service while upholding our care standards.

Qualifications

  • Eager to learn and grow in the animal welfare industry.
  • Prior wildlife or animal shelter experience is a plus, but training is provided.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative once trained.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record and at least 5 years of driving experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or shelter software (PetPoint) is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work in various weather conditions and environments with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Regular exposure to animals of all sizes, animal waste, dust, potential scratches or bites, and zoonotic diseases.
