Job summary

The National Park Service seeks a Wildlife Biologist for Joshua Tree National Park to lead program development and implementation for wildlife resources, their habitats, and sensitive species.

The incumbent will oversee monitoring, data analysis, and partnerships with federal, state, and academic partners to advance ecosystem protection and practical management.

Responsibilities

• Develops updated Inventory and Monitoring protocols for terrestrial wildlife, specifically desert tortoise and bighorn sheep.
• Carries out data collection protocols for the monitoring of native wildlife.
• Conducts analysis of complex data and prepares scientific reports.
• Presents results to a variety of audiences.
• Carries out program management duties by developing work plans and schedules, scopes of work, cost estimates, and proposals and/or grants to justify funding requests and accomplish goals.
• Coordinates the park's native wildlife management strategies and programs with those on adjacent lands for broad ecosystem protection.
• Represents the park on NPS regional task groups or similar organizations.
• Develops partnerships with other federal and state agencies, universities, tribes, and non-profit organiztions to assist with meeting goals and objectives of the program.

Summary

You will serve as a Wildlife Biologist with National Park Service in Joshua Tree National Park. The wildlife biologist is responsible for program development and implementation for wildlife resources and their habitat requirements, sensitive species, and non-native and pest animals. Incumbent will perform supervisory duties up to 20% of the time.

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
