Job summary

The Wyoming State Forestry Division in Douglas, Wyoming seeks a Wildland Fire Trainer to design, deliver, and evaluate complex training for fire operations staff. The role develops curricula, lesson plans, and training materials, coordinates classes, and assesses learning outcomes to strengthen statewide preparedness.

You will collaborate with federal/state agencies, counties, and districts, and may supervise staff while contributing to budgets and program development within the Fire Operations

Qualifications

  • Experience with IQS or similar databases.
  • Knowledge of NWCG regulations for wildland firefighter qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming regulations for wildland firefighter qualifications.
  • Strong time management and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of fire operations, ICS, aviation, and dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Develop training strategies, goals, and action plans.
  • Review training resources for state programs.
  • Prepare and update course lesson plans.
  • Create brochures and audio-visual training aids.
  • Schedule classes and evaluate training results.
  • Write training announcements and program summaries.
  • Develop learning objectives and testing processes.
  • Maintain education files and required reports.
  • Assist with Fire Management Team duties, including aviation resources and dispatch.
  • Coordinate with Federal and State agencies on fire prevention and suppression.
