Job summary

State of Oklahoma seeks a Forest Ranger I in the Forestry Division, stationed in Colcord. The role focuses on wildfire suppression, equipment operation, and forest management support for cooperative programs across the state.

The position is full-time, requires awareness of hazardous duties, and includes a total annual pay up to $47,611 with hazard pay. On-call travel and rigorous fieldwork are expected in adverse terrains.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of farm equipment or heavy equipment operation, forestry-related work, or fire prevention and suppression work.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Must pass agency physical and drug test; willing to travel up to 75% of the time; must obtain Class A CDL within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Engages in initial and extended attack wildland fire suppression and fuels mitigation.
• Operates and maintains firefighting equipment; performs preventive maintenance.
• Uses GIS to gather fire data, prepare activity reports, and support state/national fire reporting systems.
• Presents fire prevention information and education programs; trains rural fire departments.
