Job summary

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe is seeking a Fire/Fuels Technician for the reservation. You will support fire suppression, prescribed fire, and fuels reduction projects under supervision, performing fieldwork in rugged terrain and operating common firefighting equipment.

You may participate in safety trainings, field data collection, and equipment maintenance. The role requires ability to lift 50 pounds and pass physical and drug tests as part of an arduous work environment.

Responsibilities

• Fire suppression on engine or hand crews, learning tactics and fuels management.
• Assist fuels activities: thinning, pruning, mastication, piling slash.
• Operate equipment: chipper, DR mower, chainsaw and related tools.
• Participate in safety sessions and After Action Reviews for fire/fuels.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment including pumps, engines and hand tools.
• Flag treatment areas, GPS data collection, and property lines for projects.
• Collect fuel-monitoring data and conduct stand exams for reporting.
