Job summary

State of Tennessee seeks a Forestry Aide-style firefighter with responsibilities in fire prevention and suppression across multiple counties. Training and leadership opportunities are provided as part of the Cumberland District operations.

The position requires operation of heavy equipment, knowledge of fire behavior, and collaboration with various agencies. Based in Cookeville, TN with county-wide coverage.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to high school graduation with one year of relevant work experience.
• Substitution of Education for Experience: college coursework may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license during employment.

Responsibilities

• May serve in a lead role directing wildland firefighters and external resources.
• Assesses environmental conditions to determine action and constructs a fire line.
• Attends mandatory training, including the TN/KY Wildland Fire Academy.
