Job summary

Team Rubicon is seeking a Wildfire Mitigation Coordinator (Leased Employee) to join our Operations team in a hybrid role based out of California. The position supports wildfire training, event hosting, and volunteer coordination across California and beyond.

Reporting to the Wildfire Mitigation Manager, this 12-month+ role requires travel between Northern and Southern California and occasional national events. Expect 40 hours per week and a collaborative, mission-driven work environment.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of relevant professional experience in military, wildfire mitigation, disaster response, emergency management, or first responder fields.
• Personnel management/training experience, including recruiting, managing, and developing volunteers.
• Successful past performance leading or coordinating volunteers highly desired.
• Familiarity with wildfire mitigation concepts, tactics, tools, and best practices.
• Strong facilitation and public speaking skills; comfortable delivering workshops to varied audiences.
• Project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide geographic training and event support primarily across California as well as supplemental support across other geographic areas, including event creation, input, and coordination with the national training team on event hosting and local requirements.
• Work with local teams to build training cadence and volunteer capacity for training opportunities across both geographic areas.
• Serve as a local representative for complex national training events, supporting partner management, site identification, logistics, and instructor selection.
• Assist in the design and standardization of the wildfire mitigation capability, supporting distribution of training content to local and branch teams.
• Deliver workshops on wildfire mitigation program fundamentals and unique mission planning processes considerations.
