Job summary

Seeds Wilderness Way is seeking Field Instructors in Montrose, CO to care for teens in wilderness settings. You will coach 2–3 students daily, modeling hard skills like backpacking and fire, along with soft skills in counseling and spirituality, under supervision of Field Director and Therapist.

You will mentor students during aftercare via Zoom and family visits, reporting progress regularly and joining additional trips as available. Experience valued but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and 3 years older than the oldest student.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; willing to receive and give feedback.
• Able to work 8 days on: 6 days off (8:6 rotation).

Responsibilities

• Discipline 2-3 students and monitor their therapeutic, emotional, spiritual, and physical health.
• Teach hard skills (backpacking, cooking, fire, safety) and soft skills (mental health, spirituality, counseling).
• Collaborate with Field Director and Therapist to formulate and measure directives.
• Mentor 2-3 students weekly via Zoom during aftercare program and visit families as required.
• Report progress to the Field Director and participate in Seeds' mission during trips and aftercare.
• Participate in other trips and experiences in the 3-year aftercare program.
