Job summary

Wilderness Elementary School is seeking an hourly Cafeteria Monitor to supervise students during lunch, support cleanliness, and assist with cafeteria operations for the 2025-2026 School Year.

You will work under the Cafeteria Manager to ensure a safe, orderly, and pleasant dining environment, promoting good manners and nutrition among students.

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise students during lunch periods.
• Support in maintaining a clean and safe cafeteria environment.
• Work well with school staff and follow supervisor directions.

Responsibilities

• Circulate among the tables to assist students during lunch.
• Help keep tables and surrounding areas clean by wiping tables after lunch.
• Assist in disposing of food waste, returning trays, and orderly dismissal from the cafeteria.
• Encourage proper manners and healthy eating habits.
• Observe students not eating and notify the nurse as needed.
• Perform duties designated by the Cafeteria Manager.

Job Description

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking Cafeteria Monitors to assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria by supervising, assisting and supporting students at lunch during the 2025-2026 School Year.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN CAFETERIA:

• Circulate among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help.
• Assist the janitorial staff with the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas by washing tables when students leave the cafeteria.
• Assist in establishing, implementing and supervising orderly disposal of food waste return of trays and dismissal from the cafeteria.
• Help students develop proper eating habits in theareas of manners and nutrition.
• Observe students not eating lunch and call to the attention of school nurse.
• Perform any other duties or responsibilities designated bythe Cafeteria Manager.

Employment Terms: This position is classified as an an hourly support role. The schedule for this position will be considered part-time and structured on an hourly, as needed basis. This position is evaluated annually.
