Job summary

Maternal and Family Health Services, Inc. in Bethlehem, PA seeks a full-time Nutritionist for the WIC program to determine eligibility, prescribe food packages, and deliver nutrition education per policy.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in nutrition with nutrition education credits and a plus of 1–3 years of experience. You will interview, assess, educate, and document, ensuring accurate eligibility and follow-up referrals within a supportive, values-driven team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related degree with nutrition education credits
• 1–3 years' experience preferred
• Ability to perform operations with units involved in measuring and weighing
• Deductive reasoning – apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
• Must be able to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of customer service and client-centered service delivery
• General understanding of medical office processes and social service delivery

Responsibilities

• Deliver and document nutrition education including breastfeeding promotion and support
• Provide and document referrals to participants including follow-up referrals
• Verify identification, residency, income eligibility for applicants
• Conduct thorough participant assessment and document WIC risk codes
• Explain program purpose and procedures to participants; schedule appointments
• Perform, record, and assess hematological and anthropometric measurements
• Promote MFHS goals and participate in outreach activities
• Communicate appointment information with Text Magic and attend trainings
• Perform other duties to support services
