Job Responsibilities

Perform a variety of professional duties for participants of the federal Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) under the supervision of the WIC Director, Associate Director, or the Practice Administrator.

Guided by a thorough knowledge of counseling methods, practices, and procedures; applicable government regulation; and the policies of the NYSDOH WIC Program and the Institute for Family Health.

Use the NYSDOH NYWIC computer system to process WIC participants’ information.

Be cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives, and policies of the WIC Program and the organization.

Have a thorough knowledge of the community and public health facilities so as to refer participants as needed.

Assist the WIC Director and/or Associate Director with related departmental duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Food, and Nutrition that meets ADA minimum requirements (RD eligible)
• Minimum of 1 year of nutrition education experience in a community setting, with skills in nutrition counseling and teaching.
• Demonstrated computer skills and familiarity with Windows environments, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
