Job summary

Watonwan County Public Health is seeking a WIC Coordinator to lead the county's Women, Infants & Children program. This full-time role supports nutrition education, breastfeeding education, and compliance with state and federal policies while supervising staff.

The position may be filled at Public Health Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Nutrition Coordinator level depending on qualifications, with strong benefits including health plan, HSA/VEBA, FSA, and PERA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a major in nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics or closely related field, or current licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Certification/licensure requirements depend on role (PHN/RN/Nutrition Coordinator).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day functions of the WIC program in Watonwan County.
• Assess nutritional needs and provide nutrition education to participants.
• Coordinate breastfeeding education and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Train staff and supervise their work, assure quality services, and interact with state/regional WIC staff.
• Provide back-up support to other Public Health programs.
• Represent the Public Health Department to inform and elicit community support.
